Taza Chocolate - Exit Stage Right

Taza Chocolate was one of the original vendors of the Boston Public Market when they opened back in 2015.

Well, their time at BPM is over, as I spotted a sign stating that they'll be closing on Saturday, October 13th to refocus their retail operation to the factory store in Somerville (561 Windsor St.).

If you need a reason to visit them in Somerville, they have their Day of the Dead Block Party on October 27th, from 12pm to 5pm.  It is free to attend, and includes food trucks, guest performances, and kids crafts.

Another One Bites the Dust: Oyster Bar

The food court at Faneuil Hall in the Quincy Hall Marketplace has gone through a number of closures in recent months, which has also opened the opportunity for new businesses to come in.

First I noticed the Starbucks leaving its prime location by the entrance facing Faneuil Hall.  A new one will open shortly in the corner of the North Market closest to Dick's Last Resort.  But in the meantime, Magnolia Bakery of New York fame, with its famous banana pudding, has been welcomed with open arms just this past week.

Across from Magnolia, we continue to await the arrival of the Legal Bowl, which I figure to be a relation to the Boston seafood chain Legal Seafood.  The spot it will be inhabiting is where Bagelville had previously resided with their humungous bagels.

Down over on the other side of the colonnade, there is now an open rest area where Picolo Panini had been.  I totally missed the transition of that one.

But as I walked through the building today, I noticed yellow ribbons woven around the now darkened Oyster Bar, and I thought to myself, "Wow, another one bites the dust."  Hadn't I
just seen it open as recently as earlier this week?

Outside Quincy Market, Bertucci's has also closed up shop in recent history, with taco spot Mercado soon to open.

Note: In a May visit, I saw that the Oyster Bar was back!

A Fond Farewell

As a Bostonian born and bred, it has been a sad few months as I have had to bid a fond farewell to a number of businesses that made up Boston to me.

City Sports filed for bankruptcy in October 2015.  It was founded in 1983, and it seemed that everyone had one of their T-shirts.  The location I especially favored was in Downtown Boston.

Ben & Jerry's location at Park Plaza Hotel.  Every one of my Free Scoop Day visits were to this location.  It was also where I first tasted Chunky Monkey, and Cherry Garcia.

And last but not least, Finale, also at the Park Plaza Hotel, the last of the small local chain of dessert shops, which once were also located at Coolidge Corner and Harvard Square.  Their molten chocolate cake was one friend's fave.

Edit 2/3/2016 -

The Eddie Bauer Outlet remains with us only till 2/23/2016.  Then sadly, their doors close.  In the meantime, everything they have in stock is currently 70% off.
